Regardless of what type of neighborhood we live in, there is a threat of crime. Perhaps the most prolific type is a home intrusion, or burglary. What can you do to protect yourself from this threat?
Some basic things are really no-brainers. For example, getting good locks for your doors, or having a security system installed are steps that anyone can think of. But what if you tried walking around your property, putting yourself in the shoes of the thief? Looking at your home with that angle in mind can help you come up with ideas that you may not have thought of otherwise.
For example, as you walk around, ask yourself questions like these: are there any dark areas around my home where I could hide or break in without anyone seeing me? Would the windows be easy to break with relatively no noise? Is the house regularly dark and quiet for specific days or times? Thinking outside the box like this can help you to identify ways to protect your property.
